Deleted Scenes

Before I started outlining, I deleted many, many scenes. The scenes taught me who my characters were, but did nothing to move the plot. I took what I learned about my characters and moved on to a new scene.

I thought I had moved past that with BATR, my first full outline. Yet, here I am deleting a highly researched scene because it doesn’t fit with my characters. It fits with the main character’s need for a meeting location, and where the secondary character would take an acquaintance, but not where anyone would take their first crush.
So, goodbye, well researched setting. Looks like I’m making up a fancy-schmancy restaurant in Seattle, unless someone recommends one to me.
This will be good for the overall story. That’s what I keep telling myself.
