Keep Calm and Sleep Better
I got a Mi Band in January. It’s a Chinese knock-off of the FitBit, and it’s all I need for a fitness tracker. It may not be the prettiest thing on my arm, but it tracks my steps and uploads data to the Google Fit app.

It also tracks my sleep.
I have never felt so inadequate in my life. Every night, it tells me, “Sleep time too short. Deep sleep time too short.”

Sleep time should be between 7-8 hours. We get around six most nights. Deep sleep time should be 20 – 25% of your sleep time, so between 1-2 hours. I might get 40 minutes. If I’m lucky.
75% of people sleep better than I do, according to Mi Band’s statistics.
Last night, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I downloaded a free meditation app, Calm. It’s also connected to Google Fit, so I’m able to track my progress.

Meditation felt…good. I have no problem focusing on my breathing, or pulling my thoughts back to breathing if I feel myself drifting to sleep (which almost happened).
My deep sleep improved to 51 minutes last night. That’s enough to continue the weeklong meditation lessons.
