Tuesday’s Top Ten: Author Quotes
After posting the F.Scott Fitzgerald quote in my weekend blog, I started thinking about my top ten inspirational author quotes of all time. These may or may not be from fiction. I love them because they speak to my soul.
10. F. Scott Fitzgerald:

Why: Love has gone a long way toward healing my brokenness.
9. Oliver Wendell Holmes:

Why: Until I started writing again ten years ago, this would have been me.
8. Maurice Sendak:

Why: This reminds me to seek more than the material. I will not be satisfied until I quench my spirit.
7. Oscar Wilde:

Why: I did this once. It ended badly. Lemur treats me like a genius-princess-ten-amazeballs-writerly-person. I kinda like that.
6. Willa Cather:

Why: For the rest of the quote: “And before it, when it is big, all is little.”
5. William Faulkner:

Why: If we compare ourselves to the greats, we will never write anything. If we compare to how we wrote yesterday, we will improve.
4. Henry Ward Beecher:

Why: If I am responsible for my actions, maybe the people around me will start to be responsible for theirs. I set the bar high and lead by example. Too often I see leaders who say, “Do as I say, not as I do,” which is fucking irritating when they make more money and take less responsibility.
3. Virgil:

Why: Whenever I doubt myself, I remember this.
2. e.e. cummings:

Why: I have grown so much in the past ten years. I still lead two different lives, but I’m no longer terrified of people realizing I AM EDIE MONTREUX. This is who I really am. NSFW Hurricane Edie. That’s me.
1.George Eliot:

Why: I’m still working toward my dream. It’s not too late. I’m not too old. It’s going to happen. I know it.
